Internationally Qualified Nurses
Internationally qualified nurses, who would like to register with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, will have to meet Nursing Council standards for applying to become registered nurses to practice in New Zealand.
Registration Process
There are three steps process:
Step one: Verification of your documents and credentials for preparing report.
Step Two: Invitation to apply for registration.
Step Three: Apply to the Nursing Council. You as, an overseas nurse, may be required to complete a Competence Assessment Programme (CAP) before registration in New Zealand.
Competence Assessment Programme (CAP)
Successful completion of a competence assessment programme will enable you (as a nurse) to demonstrate your ability to meet the Nursing Council of New Zealand’s competencies for your scope of practice.

To become registered nurses to practice in New Zealand, you must be able to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and other health professionals. That is why for IELTS candidate you must achieve a minimum score of 7 in each band of the academic test.
